Scorpio Ascendant

We’re talking brinksmanship. Primal. All or nothing at all. Life or death. Good or evil. You are the high rollers in life, the most powerful or destructive people anyone will ever meet. The onlooker may never know the struggle that goes on in the battlefield that is your Soul because it is all carried on beneath the surface. Let’s take a good look at what makes you tick, Scorpio Rising.

First of all, your Soul Mates… in ancient astrology, they went much more by Rising Signs. Others with the same Rising Sign constituted your cohort or traveling companions in life.

Those with Scorpio Rising, I’m sure you will agree, have charisma and impact. There is always something very sexy about them, too. Louis XIV had a Scorpio Ascendant as do the following: Napoleon, Charlie Chaplin, Clint Eastwood, Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, Ilona Staller (La Cicciolina) [the only porn star to be elected to public office], Jackie Kennedy, Sigmund Freud, Edith Piaf, Beethoven, Nietzsche, Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman, Liz Greene, Victor Hugo, Vladimir Putin, Michael Douglas, River Phoenix, Claudia Schiffer, Sai Baba, Mahatma Gandhi, the Marquis de Sade, Abraham Lincoln, Moliere, Nastassja Kinski, J. K. Rowling (will she eventually self destruct?), Edgar Allan Poe, Mussolini, Giovanni Casanova, Katharine Hepburn, Diana Ross, Margaret Thatcher, Flaubert, Goethe, Lenin, Mata Hari, Ravel, Chagall, Charles Sobhraj (Le Serpent) [serial killer SE Asia], Jawaharlal Nehru, Niels Bohr, Bette Davis, Raphael, Cezanne, Martha Stewart, Helen Keller, Charleton Heston, Joan Crawford, Hermann Goering, Rembrandt, Emily Dickinson, Johnny Carson, Toulouse Lautrec and Charles Lindbergh.

What matters to Scorpio Rising is to get out on the edge. Underneath an often placid and serene looking exterior such as Goethe. Grace Kelly, Johnny Carson and Nicole Kidman display, there is a raging battle going on for self mastery. It is often carried out through specific intense sexual experiences such as you see in the lives of the Marquis de Sade (rent “Quills”, 2000), Casanova, Nehru (a great ladies’ man), Mata Hari and Ilona Staller. Beethoven and Abe Lincoln had syphilis. “Dogville”, starring Nicole Kidman works out a lot of these issues. It was a good part for her. Gandhi, India’s guru and Britain’s scourge, apparently denied his wife sex while sleeping beside (not “with”) young girls in order to reverse sublimate and regenerate from his denied libidinal urges. If you know what I’m talking about and you do.

Your Ascendant tells you what experiences in life to choose in order to grow. Scorpio Rising needs intensity, a very specific kind of sexual experience (unique to yourself), some edgy flirtation with TABOO (things set apart as sacred, forbidden for general use, or placed under a prohibition or interdiction), depth charges, power over others and eventually power over your own tremendously powerful drives and urges. A certain amount of experimentation is necessary in the laboratory of life. One client began early, as a child, seeing how long she could hold her finger in a match flame without wincing. She also began to deny herself things she liked and eventually things she thought she couldn’t live without just to prove they had no power over her.

As you know, it is also necessary to experience pain because that is the only way to awaken channels of transformation.

If used negatively, this is very dark territory as it involves misuse of great power. You can easily destroy yourself or another though it wouldn’t be with a gun like glamorous film star and bête noir Joan Crawford (“Mommie Dearest”). Mystery story writer Edgar Alan Poe and the Austrian father of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, attempted to harness these energies creatively as did the insanely popular but tragic French chanteuse Edith Piaf. One of Germany’s most famous philosophers, Nietzsche, went mad. Germany’s greatest literary genius, Goethe, gave us the masterpiece of “Faust”, the quintessential myth for 20th century western man. J. K. Rowling has created a 21st century phenomenon by dealing with the metaphysics of good and evil for “children”.

It’s critical to Scorpio Rising to understand the difference between power over yourself and power over others. No amount of power over others including emotional extortion, manipulation, coercion, torture, threats. withholds, deep freezes, hostage situations and ultimatums will ever give you one ounce of what you’ll get if you begin to deny those urges in favor of cultivating your own Soul which, specific to your group, desires the ego to die in the fires of purification. Write these words large across your life, “Kill the ego.” For reasons of purification and self mastery, many with Scorpio Rising go through long periods of celibacy by choice.

Depending on the sign and house of your Sun, you must pull these positive experiences towards you in order to grow. They may not look like positive experiences to your friends and you may actually hate them yourself but they contribute to your Soul’s evolution. Eventually your ego will die (because you kill it) and it will be replaced by something genuinely indestructible. I think you know…

You also want to use this energy to regenerate yourself after every extreme experience and to draw things to you. As you’ve noticed, you have a magic wand. Whatever you dwell on eventually appears. No need to go out hunting and stalking. It will come to you. Oh yes it will. Good or bad, it is the creature of your own subconscious.

When centered and in touch, Scorpio Rising can change anything by changing their own focal point.

Be careful not to take what I say here literally. There is some mystery involved, as you know, dearly beloved.

The Rising Sign also describes your physical appearance. There is often an air of utter innocence which is completely ironic, isn’t it? Also look for the exact opposite, those intense “beady little eyes” that make you ripe for terrorist profiling.
