When is the Second Saturn Return?
So you find yourself approaching 60! Well, it’s time for your Second Saturn Return.
The Second Saturn Return is a very critical and interesting time. If there is any transit in astrology that deserves the serious full attention of an experienced astrologer it is this one.
The first thing to do is look back on your first Saturn Return. This occurred when you were 28-30 years old. Identify the main issues and reflect on events that took place near that time.
If you took action, chances are you will be building on the outworkings of that decision successfully in the second Return.
If, on the other hand, you failed to seize the opportunity, you will be getting another chance in some subtle way that you will have to recognize during your second Saturn Return. Making analogies and comparison like this is an important part of developing intuition and being guided by metaphysical principles.

Preventing Stress from the Second Saturn Return
If you didn’t act during the first Return, taking action during the second is going to be difficult. It will be very stressful at an age when one is more vulnerable physically. But failure to take action at the second Saturn Return can, I’m sorry to say, result in such stress that serious health problems ensue.
As you look around at our cohorts, you may see some of your classmates and friends falling by the wayside. The assumption would be that their lives in some way failed to become authentic. And the stress of living a lie becomes too much for them or perhaps they feel complete. The best book on this subject is The Challenge of Fate by Thorwald Dethlefson.
The task at hand is to reach for what is real and meaningful, no matter what it costs you in terms of change and disruption, if you did not do this back when you were approaching 30.
On the other hand, if you made some valid choices at your first Saturn Return, despite the pressure and stress, review them. Examine where the path you chose has taken you. Then you will see how to “build out” on that. If you were generally successful at navigating the first Return, the second one is relatively easy. It is about giving back from that harvest.
The second Saturn Return is just as important as the first but the penalty for ignoring it is even stronger.
One of the ways astrology is so helpful is that it helps you lift out the important “data” from the complex events going on in your life at the time of your second Return so you know what it is you’re looking for in terms of meaningfulness and significance to the whole life path.
The second Saturn Return is one of those times when the paths we take in life loom very large… the paths we take and the paths not taken.

During my first return, my youngest of three boys started to walk, and shortly thereafter it was constant chaos from them ganging up on one another. My face began to break out in huge painful boil-like pimples that took weeks to heal, only for another to pop up before the first could disappear completely. I was miserable and felt hideous. I wished I could run away but I didn’t. I handled it best I could. Am I to be punished by a bad second return because I didnt take action by abandoning my spouse and children in search of a happier life? I should hope not.
I would not make that interpretation.
My second Saturn Return is next January 2020 with what looks like a short one hit transit.
Does that have less of an impact than a more drawn out return?

I am not sure what to expect!
My first Saturn return saw the birth of my third son (i was 29). i was relatively happy – as i look back i made some sacrifices and choices i really did not want to make. returning to work, day care decisions. felt like i was not in control of my marriage. possibly too young and immature when we started family. fast forward to second saturn return (approx age 57) now divorced, second career that I chose, that i was enjoying – boom – breast cancer. aggressive / genetic / numerous surgeries / issues with pancreas – thank God/Goddess not cancer/ second career now on hold. I am a saturn in sagg with pisces sun / sagg moon / cancer rising.
Mine was 2015 October I broke up with my girlfriend and in December I left home finally to live by my own in a Beach. Got job offer, did it great and had an awesome time and success.
I had finish college by then and I thought, if I had to work, might as well do it in the place that I love. Went for it felt good brought many gifts to my life.
It was very significant for me even though I did not had this information at the time.
I still remember the calling.
I have Saturn 10º of Aquarius (South Node) heading into 2nd Saturn return. At 30 years old I decided to remove myself from a relationship that wasn’t supportive so bravo, I wasn’t studying astrology then so I knew nothing about these returns. My bohemian phase of life started when I moved to Venice Beach. I can still smell the pachouli in the air. It was magical even though I struggled to pay the rent at times. It seems as if I am still living a somewhat carefree existence having never married or had children. Never locked myself into a stable career either; could that be because of Uranus in the 10th house of Leo (North Node)? I did finally solidify my calling about five years ago and focused on making it a reality, something I started working on leading up to my first Saturn Return so maybe everything is coming full circle? This new world we’re living in has set up a roadblock but I remain optimistic and look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. Can’t believe I’m 58! I should be concerned for my future but there is no time for that. The future is NOW!
i am trying to understand saturn return, others commenting with helpful..so here goes
according to my 1st saturn return i was on a verge of a soon to be a awful divorce .. the man was bringing over into our home and while i was on vacation somewhere away from the home by myself as he made the arrangements just to have his affair sleep on our bed and so forth and whom he ended up married to shortly after our divorce in which he in had impregnated his affair…. be with this said i was also the girl was having an affair with as well then married after he leaving is wife while she was pregnant ..for me /
i vowed never to do or involve myself with such drama ever again .. so onward with this
after getting into astrology i find my saturn is retrograde in my natal chart meaning i was born with saturn retro @23 degrees
i had an estranged no relation with my mom at the time , i was very young and younger than my ex husband.. i had to return home with my parents
i still felt the relationship with my mother was still distant although she took me back home .. i went independant from her moved away and open my own salon buisess after saturn return period ….i was very needy during my 1st return and the people i should have been close to i was not like my mother for instance she always and hardly ever said no as i ever got into a financial hiccups .. help me with everything
2nd return 2017 – 2020 my mother became ill i had to quit my job to care for her she passed while i was at her beside in such a peaceful manner beginning 2020
i took care of her hand and foot .. that year i went bac into the salon buisness reapplied for my cosmo lics after 16 years and now i am working for a company that pays me to medicaly use my beauty lisc for the at risk patients thru their health ins.. i provide the service it pays well .. my mother suffered a great deal with her illness all the while during her last few years i thought to myself why do ederly suffer so much .. i had no help to care for her i did it all myself at the end of her life she and i had the best bedside convoes as she was in and out of coma .. kisses higs love the last thing she said was how much she loved me and how happy she was as she was transitioning to the other dimension.. it was beautiful just like she gave her haert and soul for her family .. i have other siblings and at the time no one her kids was with her to her beautiful end they missed out
