Yes, I fully agree with avoiding the metaphysical and occult. With Pisces (and NN) in 3rd I’ve taken it to the extreme and it has brought me nothing but NOT knowing what to do in this life, feeling alone and being looked at as being arrogant. You see, with this south node placement any knowledge becomes a burden, especially the intangible. That is an (other) escape route. That is a way of not having to deal with a very painful fact (which follows in a second or so). The key for me is to live and let go and to be with my experiences in the now and letting develop along,the,way WITHOUT my doing. I need to fully trust the Higher Plane. Of all the lives lived, this is the most extensive and troublesome one. I do feel it’ll lead to ‘enlightenment’ but knowing what I know – I really do have an answer to anything, you too? – and having to let that go, is the most difficult position I can imagine to be in yet, by letting my influences go, I can put it all to extensive use. Talk about your irony 😉 There is really no need for me, as a human… Everything solves itself as long as I do not engage. And that s*cks!

What house system should we use when studying the north node? Equal house give NN in 3rd house, Placidus give NN in 4th.
Use whichever works for you. I don’t think anyone can say one is definitively best. I always default to Placidus because that’s how I was trained, but if the information for NN in 3rd resonates more strongly with you, then stick with that!
Did you sort that out ? I’m in the opposite situation, 4th house NN with full sign/equal house systems vs 9th/3rd house NN axis.
3rd house NN is apparently much less depressing ! but it doesn’t really match my life. My siblings are at war with me so I’m trying to stay away, almost no contact with my neighbors who are so different or have different lives, and I’m really bad at chit chat, so we don’t have much to say ! The only points that really sound true is restlessness in my youth, and maybe mental capacity…
4th house NN sounds much darker reading some articles, and it seems to match my experience better. I started my life with ease at school and high school, but as an adult the 10th house failed me ! I mostly stay at home with my feelings and often uncomfortable emotions, as the lack of 10th house success doesn’t allow me to invest in a home or family.
oh dear yes I fell into the occult too. But I just never got tired of it, astrology, and my memory was good there. Now at 73 its still kind of a back up but living the day to day is growing. I guess its why I could never get it professional so no income. I m looking at Aug. 2017 eclipses cause last time it changed my 10th-4th and here we are again lunar 10th my moon, solar fourth and while cancer didn t get me last time I do note this time its in the end of life house so how do I see that. I d be 92. The average in our family. Saturn in first in gemini limited me to duality Uranus cusp gave me power to transcend capricorn ninth to awaken spirit during the last 19 year eclipse. 2003-2013ish. I m glad cause it makes sense at this time formlessness and peace and conversion. It is like a rebirth one step up into a new world. Just what to do with the old one. Any advice I am abit lost but hopefully its cause new eclipse cycle has yet to end and begin. It can take a couple years sometimes. Meanwhile daily is good.

I’m just curious… Why is it necessary for south node in 9th house to avoid metaphysical and occult learning? From my understanding of astrology, that is more of 8th house territory. I’m just curious because this seems to be a common point of contention with people who have commented on the blog. I wanted to read the comments for guidance about this because I too have a strong connection with the study of metaphysics. The problem with me having this placement is that I also have a 12th house stellium (Sun and moon included) the actual house of spirituality so to have this placement telling you that you’re here to not really be into so much is contradictory right? On top of that I live and was born and raised in Baltimore City a not so good place in most neighborhoods so to hear that this is where my fortune is doesn’t really sit well with me. I believe the 3rd house has more deeper meaning to it than this.

My homeliffe was definitely not ideal. Leaving and finidng spirituality are actually what saved me.
I do feel that there is a deeper meaning to this placement than the author has implied.
Spirituality is our tool for spiritual growth, why would we abandon it? Maybe finding moderation between spirituality and the material world is what the author meant to say? I’m not sure, but reading that bit definitely struck a nerve with me too.

I think, for personal use, studies of the occult and metaphysical is fine. It is when doing so to gain from it, as in career or other form of gain, that this will backfire, because the 3rd house is about the details in the information and how we implement the detail in our daily lives, whereas the 9th house is not so much about the detail as what it is about seeing the bigger picture formed from abstract knowledge. So its like having the theory (9th), not put it to practice (3rd). There is no mistake in the fact that most of us with this placement have had countless previous lives in positions where we were able to influence society by means of communication. Mass media, Politics, the Occult blah blah blah, and it is the memory of this treasure of knowledge regarding the occult that sparks our keen interest in this. What we are to do is not to influence on a mass basis, but to get involve on a small scale. Like making short trips…like making difference to the smaller person. The one not as fine as we think we are. Not as intelectual as we may think we are. Its about letting go of the fact that we can explain everything, or know averything, or have no love for the detail involved (this one is me). Bet you agree that we have this kind of “I know”-motto. Cause, we make it our concern to find out what we dont know. Thus the love for understanding, thus the love for the occult. Once we “know”, our minds will only be changed once we are proven wrong…correct? Now, we have to let that go for this during this lifetime. We have to allow ourselves to be open to different views on the detail in the information. Hereby we move away from what we are cool with in abstract knowledge and the bigger picture to what we understand better in how the detail in the information affects the smaller picture; those around us as in a community setup. Then we can use our excellent skill in communication together with this new clearer perspective of the information at hand, and move away from a purely intellectual view to a situation whereby we can blend our skill with practical application. In other words, take the diploma’s off the study wall and go outside and talk to the neighbors or the person cleaning your house. (luckily I am skilled at doing the cleaning). It allows for better understanding of the abstract info we so often get from learning the occult. I think, (and I am just a person with a gift to see patterns, not an astrologer and zero diplomas), anyhow, I think that if I use the metaphysical and occult in my daily life by identifying the detail in the information, making sure I correctly understand this info, and then combine it with my knowledge to exchange the this newly formed information (formed out of this one-on-one communication), so that it can be implemented on a practical basis in someone’s life; then the occult is perfect for my 3rd house placement of the North Node. Thus using my experience from past life’s (South Node) to gain new experience and at the same time developing the node. Kind of we reading the article above, people give their comments and we all take the new formed info by combining the views of the writer and the comments to form a new perspective out of this. I think this is what we are to do in our daily life. One last word or two….metaphysical and the occult RULES!

I resonated with most of this article except the part about not studying occult or metaphysical knowledge. Those two things are two of my passions, and I feel that they have given me a much deeper understanding of myself, and the world around me.
Maybe instead of abandoning occult knowledge (which would also include astrology), it would be better to focus on moderation, and having one foot in the material world, as well.
I see your point, but in the end, the purpose of life is to facilitate spiritual growth in order to reach enlightenment. Spirituality is our tool for doing that. And only living in the mundane, material world will not cut it for people like us.
I would not include astrology in occult knowledge. Occult is 8th house. Astrology is 11th. That would be my interpretation of those energies.

I m a pisces and quite sensitive. This i didn”t know until i joined a bible study. Spirit guides and angels introduced themselves and prepared me for my walk in this life time. Then told me: “now that you know we are here get your head out of the clouds and focus on your life on earth because that is what you are for.” like: dont watch netflix on your phone while vacationing in an exotic country. Since then I have used the knowledge they gave me to bring peace to people who were grieving the death of a loved one or were dying themselves including my own parents . Hope this will give people some perspective.

Does this affirmation basically say that 3rd-house-north-node individuals mustn’t make decisions? I’m totally amazed about how someone can write that certain kind of individuals are not able to make decisions in their lives and careers, and therefore think that’s absolutely normal. I believe the brief warning is more about avoiding these things due to the way it could possibly manifest as a hindrance to the creative intellectual abilities we are said to have. You may have discovered during your research of various things that when you come to any kind of concrete evidence, you feel the entrapment? As if it creates some kind of block? Oh I can’t manifest this… therefore I can’t and there is no creative way around it.. ? That is what I felt when reading this. I could be wrong, but I think we are guided by the creative and inventive ways we use our abilities. Trailblazers don’t usually follow rules or abide by boundaries. They go with their gut, or something lol But they do what they want and don’t let anything detour them.

Im rootless and I have been for the last 10 years. I cant find home and its driving me crazy. I love my freedom even if its making me lonely.
