Saturn Return
Understanding Your Saturn Return
The Saturn Return is an astrological occurrence that usually occurs twice in a natural life span. It takes Saturn 30 years to make the complete circle of your chart. The planet Saturn, the stern taskmaster, returns to the place it was when you were born twice for most people. It will return three times if you’re very lucky. The first time, it returns is when you are between 28 and 30 years of age. Saturn returns once again when you are between the ages of 58 and 60. If you are fortunate enough to live 90 years, you will see it again between the ages of 88 and 90.
The Saturn Return lasts about two years and is a time for introspection and self-evaluation. It is a time of taking responsibility and often a time for making serious choices.
The First and Second Saturn Return
On this site, we will examine the details of the First and the Second Saturn Returns.
The arrival of the first Return underscores one of the pivotal times in your life. It’s more than just a change of the first digit of your age. More profoundly, it’s a time for some deep self-assessment. You can read more about the First Saturn Return in another post — click here to read about the First Return. There, you will find tips to get you through this First Saturn Return.
The second pivotal period in your life, astrologically speaking, is the advent of the Second Saturn Return. This is a very important time. I go into some detail about this period, as well as refer you to some good resources which will give you a much more comprehensive understanding of dealing with the Second Return. Click here to read about the Second Return.
I have organized this site into a series of four (4) steps. Following these steps will enable you to attain mastery in learning about your Saturn Return. In conclusion, you will walk away with a thorough understanding of the inherent karmic lessons that the Return transits mean for your life.
The 4 Steps to Mastering Your Saturn Return
There are four (4) steps you must take if you want to attain mastery in understanding not only the Saturn Return but also the implications it has for your life. It’s only through a comprehensive understanding that you can use the knowledge to your benefit. This education will empower you in all areas of your life — your relationships, career, health, finances, and karmic destiny.
Below, I will briefly discuss the 4 Steps to Mastery. You can use the links below to navigate through but I would encourage you to make use of the handy menu for the site which I’ve organized to take you through these 4 Steps:
Step 1 – Understand the Saturn Return
If you have read this page from the beginning, then congratulations! You have completed Step 1 – Understanding the Saturn Return. You now know what the Saturn Return is and when to expect your First and Second Returns, which takes us to Step 2.
Understanding the above content “Understanding Your Saturn Return” is Step 1. So, by now, you should have completed this step.
Step 1 is understanding the content above.
Step 2 – Learn the 1st and 2nd Saturn Returns
The First and Second Saturn Returns have implications for your life. Completing this step will enable you to understand the energies with each return. You will learn what the returns will teach you. I also cover how to make the right choices for your life so you do not find yourself living with regret as you experience your second return. What are the implications for karma? How to deal with the pressures you will inevitably face? These are questions we will answer in this step.
Step 3 – Know your Saturn Return Sign
It’s not enough to understand the first and second Saturn Returns. You must also know what your Saturn Return sign is. This is crucial for us to hone in on your individual path. You will use our Saturn Return Calculator which will give you the sign. Once you know your sign, you will take the final Step — Step 4, learning your placement.
This is a personal favorite section of mine and from the feedback I have received, I am so pleased to learn that many of my readers concur. Many readers tell me they experience mental overload after reading all of the information about their particular placement. That is understandable! The knowledge is vast and, yet, powerful. So, I invite you to re-read the material again to allow the knowledge to resonate to the level it needs to in order for it to truly change your life.
Step 4 – Learn about your Saturn Return Sign
I have saved the best for last. This step will truly take your understanding to a level it needs to be in order to live your best life. We will take you through your individual placement. You will find your understanding has reached a profound level of depth and will “graduate” from the 4 Steps with armed with the necessary knowledge, mental and spiritual tools to carve our your truest path to greatness.
Once you have taken these steps, I invite you to exercise your new understanding by reading some of the bonus sections of the site. There is a section of Saturn Return stories which I hope you find enjoyable and educational. I have also included a section that discusses the Saturn Return’s effect on celebrities.
I have completely changed my life this year. Ended a relationship, sold home, left my job, bought new car and furniture. Then travelled to Anerica for a month. A lady I spoke to last week in a park told me I was a classic example of Saturn Return. It took no strength to do it all. I woke up New Years Day and decided to do it all. I could not have done this even a year ago. I’m living on my own for the first time in my life and I’m loving it. I was always afraid of it
That sounds like you’re having a very liberating Saturn Return!

I’m trying very hard to understand this… Lol I had a dream 2 was ago that I was.
. Actually on another planet and could turn to the right and see Saturn and it’s rings just as close as the sun is to us, if not even closer. I knew it was profound and I’ve simply been waiting for the knowledge sn9understanding of its meaning…. So coming across this article is in my mind, confirmation that I am in alignment with the vibrations of the cosmos….. But pls explain to me in more simpler terms if you would. I desire greatly to understand. For a few months I’ve been told by several different people that I am in a transit period that is rare and extremely important….. Based upon my birthchart
… BTW my birth chart is unusual in itself….. Every line is on one side of the chart. Dec. 12.19.1978….. 6:37 pm pls she’d some light on this for me. This website is the closest I’ve come to attaining the answers I seek…. *MbRs*â™???

Hi Celestina! I believe I am going through the peak of my SR. I was born October 28th, 1988 at 12noon. I have literally had the most difficult problems come into my life that have not existed before. I ended a very long term relationship in which was very heartbreaking, I got involved with a shady producer that was trying to bring me down. I rebounded to another relationship because I was feeling so heartbroken, and that guy ended up trying to hack into my accounts, invade my work contacts, and invade my personal life after I broke it off with him. My work life has been very disappointing in real estate in the past 6 months by not making as many sales, and I just feel broken. I want to follow my passion in TV writing, but was not emotionally supported in my past relationship to really pursue it. I have been writing a book now that has seemed to keep my head above water, but I do still feel very lost. There are a number of other things like debt I have accumulated that I have never had before. I have seemingly lost a lot of friends from my breakup, and feel alone. It is actually the first time in my life that I have been without a million people constantly surrounding me. I now go home at night, and write or hangout by myself. It has been an interesting feeling to which I have never experienced. I also quite drinking. Any advice?

Saturn in Pisces? Almost time for second return. First one, 1993-1994, were indeed monumental. A time of to stop being afraid, to have faith in ones abilities and take that huge step into the territory of the unknown. (Fear of the Unknown can be a debilitating factor in your life). A relationship with “The world of the Unknown”, seemed like nothing compared to a relationship in the world of “The psychotic emotional blackmailer”. Add “gay” to this, (a rough time to be openly gay) and you have a challenging recipe begging to flop in the absence of Free Will.
Best move of my life, best decision of my life, best new direction for my life, and by far BEST courage ever-ever and ever.

Great site with interesting articles on both Saturn returns and the nodes (I’m experiencing my second Saturn in Sag return and I’m a north node Libra (conj DC and Neptune)) but the mother of my son has Saturn in Pisces and it appears that you’ve not yet completed the work on this and a couple of other signs so was wondering if you have plans to do so?
Thank you for the feedback. I intend to finish the site this summer.

Hi Celestina! I was wondering if there was any information about Saturn in Pisces? I’m very curious about it as it is isolated in my chart. I have a significantly left-handed chart with the exception of my Saturn in Pisces in the 7th house. As well as Neptune & Uranus. (I’m a Leo Sun & Moon with Virgo Rising)
I’m very curious about this Saturn placement as it has been considered by some to be a bit laborious in nature. I’ve felt it most in my relationships with others. I’m often incredibly misunderstood, and I’ve also managed to get myself in a lot of trouble taking the blame or going up in flames with people or causes that really triggered my heartstrings. Perhaps a product of being so misunderstood and outcasted in social circles in my upbringing. I was definitely labeled as a weirdo with very outlandish ideas and perspectives that I’ve learned to embrace in my 20’s now. I’m currently 21 and taking advantage of this cancer season to be very introspective about my personal strengths and weaknesses and how to maximize their potentials for my upcoming year.
I admit I was a little scared to see it wasn’t posted as I immediately thought that it was a doomed position to have in one’s chart. lol
Anyway,
I look forward to your response!
I’ll be working on Saturn in Pisces this summer and hope to post it soon. I think all Saturn placements are hard, frankly, but my vote for most painful would be Saturn in Cancer, so you may take some schadenfreude there. It sounds like the house placement troubles you more than the sign, though. Having Neptune and Uranus in the 7th house makes for a triple whammy there, I think. Saturn in Pisces is not a doomed position. 1/12th of people have it 🙂

my date of birth 15/1/1971 at 10:30pm
i got big problem of making home since 8 years and just finished house warming ceremony. during the 8 years i lost my brothers parents cooperation and helping and more over, i got big vengeance of no reason from them. B4 house construction, my whole family liked me and when i started my house construction all are my enemies.
Now i understand it is Saturn return again??
what to do??
Hi, I’m sorry I can’t understand exactly what is going on, but it seems like you have a new home and should be enjoying it. You are not having your Saturn return now if you were born in 1971. You have Saturn in Taurus. You’ll need to get a chart done to find the house placement, but Saturn in Taurus in and of itself would not indicate problems either with family or home necessarily, just perhaps with resources. Why are they mad about the house? Are they jealous?
Dear Celestina,
Can you give me a brief description of my astro sign. I thought my sign is Capricorn. Now i understand that i have Taurus in Saturn!!
Saud
I think you may be confusing the sun sign and Saturn sign? You could be “a Capricorn” (sun in Capricorn) and have Saturn in any sign, including Taurus. I’m working on the Saturn in Taurus write up. It will be ready before the end of summer.

You are an incredibly intuitive and gifted person. This evening I read your piece on Saturn in Sagittarius, for the second Saturn Return. You were so spot on It was scary. It was as if I was reading my own journal for the past two years. You see, my second Saturn Return ends tomorrow at midnight. During my SR I read I could be either exhausted or depressed. I consciously chose exhausted and it was, monumentally, the correct choice for me. I only wish I had come across your work at the Beginning of my SR. However, you have confirmed my SR journey, and it’s beautiful end. There were times I thought I might not make it through. But something kept pulling me onward. Finally, I came to a personal revelation, just last month which convinced me it was all worth it. Thank you, with all my heart for your beautiful and timely confirmation.
Hello!
I have your book, find it very helpful, and really like the idea that the Saturn’s influence is not over after the return, that it then follows us in different phases.
Can I ask how to find out when my SR changes the zodiac? So for example, if my SR is in Sagittarius, when does it move to the influence of Capricorn?
Thanks a lot!
Thank you for the note. I have not written a book.
I calculated on your web page that my second Saturn returning come from 2023. You also wrote it can be hard if first one return didn´t been that hard. At first one I have been in terrible relationship. In the end of first return my son was born 1996. Three years after end of first return i divorced and my daughter was born.
Somehow it wasn´t easy first return, so I can´t aspect hard lending in second one since I giving to much (even health) in private life and in business. I was born 8th August 1965
Actually I learned about Saturn returning from person, astrologer who just passed away on August eclipse 2017 on her second return.
Can you give me a brief description of my astro sign. I thought my sign is Capricorn. Now i understand that i have Taurus in Saturn

Dear Celestina,
Is it okay if I quote a paragraph from your text on the ”Saturn in Leo” text on my college assigment animated movie?
It would be written at the end and I would sign you under it.
I would also appreciate if you told me how you’d prefer to be signed, is ”Saturn in Leo, Celestina” okay?
It’s a great text.
I’m sorry this reply is coming so late, but of course that’s okay. I hope you went ahead and used it!
